FAQ
Questions
How do I look up an Instagram account without an account?
Type the account's username, like nike or @natgeo, or paste its instagram.com profile link, and press Look up profile. You see its name, profile photo, bio, links, follower and following counts, and its latest posts with likes, comments and dates. No Instagram account, login or app needed.
Can I see a private Instagram account?
No. A private account's posts, reels and stories are only for the followers it approves, and no tool can get around that. For a private account you see what Instagram shows everyone: the name, photo, bio, follower and following counts, and a note that its posts are private.
Is it anonymous? Will they know I looked them up?
You never sign in to Instagram, so nothing links the lookup to you, and Instagram doesn't tell anyone who viewed their profile. The photos load from Instagram's servers, just as they do on instagram.com.
Is this Instagram lookup free?
Yes. You get 5 free tries a day without an account. Sign up free for 100 credits, plus a top-up to 25 every day. No card needed. A lookup is two requests: the profile costs 1 credit and its latest posts 1 credit, so without an account it uses two free tries. A private account uses one, because there are no posts to load.
Can I download the profile and posts?
Yes. Download CSV saves one row per post with its link, type, date, caption, likes, comments, views, image link, location and tagged accounts, ready for Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Copy profile copies the name, username, counts, bio and links.
How many posts does it show?
The latest 12, in Instagram's order, so pinned posts come first. To go further back, the User posts endpoint pages through all of them, up to 50 at a time.
Why is the number of posts missing?
Instagram leaves the post count out of what it shows logged-out visitors for most accounts, so there's often none to show. Follower and following counts are exact.
Can I look up Instagram accounts with an API?
Yes. It's one request to /v1/instagram/profile with your API key, and /v2/instagram/user/posts for the posts. Both work inside Claude and ChatGPT as an MCP connector, so you can ask for a list of creators' follower counts in one go.
For developers
Need this at scale?
This tool calls the LurkAPI Profile and User posts endpoints. Call them from your own code, a spreadsheet script, or let Claude and ChatGPT call them as a connector.

Why youtube-transcript-api gets blocked on servers, and what works
YouTube sends cloud IPs a bot check, so youtube-transcript-api raises RequestBlocked. Cookies are off in 1.2.4; use residential proxies or a hosted API.
