FAQ
Questions
How do I view the comments on a YouTube video?
Paste the video's link and press View comments. You get its comments with likes, reply counts and dates, about 20 at a time; press Load more for the next ones, or open a comment's replies. No YouTube account needed.
Can I search YouTube comments?
Yes, the ones you've loaded. Type a word in the filter box to keep only the comments and replies that contain it, or start with @ to see one author's comments. Load more pages first to search deeper.
Can I export YouTube comments to CSV or Excel?
Yes. Press Download CSV for one row per comment and per reply you've opened: author, text, likes, reply count, date, whether the creator pinned or hearted it, and a link to the comment. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. Text that starts with @, =, + or - gets a leading apostrophe, so a spreadsheet never runs it as a formula.
Is this YouTube comment viewer free?
Yes. You get 5 free tries a day without an account. Sign up free for 100 credits, plus a top-up to 25 every day. No card needed. Each page of about 20 comments costs 1 credit, and each page of replies 1 credit. Without an account, each page uses one free try, and so does switching between top and newest.
Why can't I load every comment?
YouTube stops serving a video's comments after about 1,000 top comments, or a few thousand of the newest. Switch to Newest to read recent ones. Videos with comments turned off show none.
What do pinned and hearted mean?
The creator pinned that comment to the top of the list, or hearted it to show they liked it. Both are marked on the comment, and the creator's own comments carry a Creator badge.
Are the comment dates exact?
No. YouTube only says how long ago a comment was posted, like 3 days ago or 6 years ago, so that's what you see. The CSV adds posted_about, the date that implies, only as precise as YouTube's wording. Edited comments say so.
Can I get YouTube comments with an API?
Yes. It's one request to /v1/youtube/video/comments with your API key, and replies come from /v1/youtube/video/comment/replies. Both work inside Claude as an MCP connector, so you can ask it to sum up what viewers say.

Need this at scale?
This tool calls the LurkAPI Video comments and Comment replies endpoints. Call them from your own code, a spreadsheet script, or let Claude and ChatGPT call them as a connector.
